Programs

Jefferson School offers several learning opportunities after school. Many of our teachers and staff provide additional tutoring or enrichment services after school, and we are continuing to add more programs. Currently, the following programs are available:

Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT)
Founded in 2013, Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT) is a nonprofit organization focused on changing life outcomes for young men of color we serve.  The mission of IYT is to increase the number of young men of color to attend and graduate from colleges and universities; which would create a vision in which men of color are overrepresented in higher education, underrepresented in the criminal justice system, and leaders in their community.

JAGS
JAGS stands for Jefferson Academy of Growth and Success. Children are selected to participate in this intervention program through teacher referral. For this program, Jefferson teachers teach a small class of scholars and focus on topics after school in their classrooms. Scholars work toward proficiency on targeted standards identified through multiple measures, including classroom and district assessments. Your child may or may not be with their regular classroom teacher during this time. Scholars are placed based on the standard of need to reach grade-level proficiency.

Intramural Sports
Natomas Unified School District Athletics program offer Flag Football, Volleyball, Girls and Boys Basketball, and Girls and Boys Soccer throughout the year. Tryouts are held for and open to all scholars who wish to participate in 4th – 8th grades.

🎭 Jefferson Theatre Club 🎭
Lights, costumes, and center stage! The Jefferson Theatre Club invites students to shine in two full musical productions each year—one in the fall (performed in November) and one in the spring (performed in April). Rehearsals are held three times a week, where cast and crew come together to learn, create, and bring magical performances to life. Whether you love to act, sing, dance, or help behind the scenes, there’s a role for everyone in the spotlight!

Runnin’ 4 Rhett/Fitness Club
The R4R Team is for all girls and boys in Kindergarten through 7th grade who like jogging for distance or would like to learn how to jog for distance. Your child will work out two times a week for 10 weeks; be trained according to their ability (grouped for station workouts and running distance), they’ll gain a better understanding of fitness, their body and working as a team.
